"Be the Change"- Change you can see

It has been 6 months since the curtain fell on our "Be the Change" event, but the positive effects of that event are still being felt today for the school children of Nigeria.

Kim Broström,

Institut Sankt Joseph had the pleasure of welcoming Susanne Møller Andersen from the Catholic charity organisation Caritas, yesterday the 8th of May. The purpose of her visit was to inform the school how the over 100,000 kr, which was raised during our “Be the Change” event last fall, has been put to use. Susanne informed us that the money has been used to buy classroom materials for 16 of the most impoverished schools in Nigera, but that was not all…The money that the Institut Sankt Joseph school community worked so hard to raise has been used to provide food for the children while they attend their daily lessons. In addition to this status report, our students were shown pictures from Sussane´s mission in Nigeria. The area where our resources are being used is so dangerous that Susanne was under police protection the entire time, as kidnappings of foreigners are a real possibility. The pictures revealed the stark contrast between the dilapidated school buildings of Nigera, compared to the smartboards and comforts that our own children experience here in Copenhagen. The entire “Be the Change” experience has been one of learning, solidarity, charity and has shown that a school community can come together to make a real impact for those who are in need.
