Since its founding in 1858, the school day at Institut Sankt Joseph has started with a “morning song.”
This tradition is still a very central part of our everyday school life at ISJ. Every child is invited to the theatre hall or the church every morning at 8:00am to sing a song together…the song may be a children’s song, seasonal song or a hymn.
Following the song, everyone has the opportunity to pray together; either the Lord´s Prayer, or The Simple Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi.
We want to convey to our students that a prayer such as the simple prayer is an inclusive and universal human prayer; an appeal to all people, regardless of faith, creed or political persuasion.
In addition, “morning song” is also the time of day when students hear school wide announcements.
