The Play Patrol

The work is voluntary and the students use their own free time

Thirteen students from year six work from Monday to Friday (except Wednesday) in either the morning break or the lunch break, to entertain and help the younger students at the Institute Saint Joseph throughout the day. They work in groups of four and have two “watches” a week. They also often take extra “watches.”

We have had the play patrol at ISJ for many years. It has primarily been students from year six who have been involved. The work is voluntary and the students use their own free time. They come up with games and activities, read aloud for them or just have a cosy snack time with students from kindergarten up to year three. Some days there are only ten students who wish to participate but other times there can be up to forty.
